Teacher Appreciation Week 2012: Part Two

Our last two days of Teacher Appreciation week means our last two gifts.
I'm sad the week is ending! I enjoy giving little gifts to people to show my thanks!

THURSDAY:
Noteworthy Teacher

I started with a little pail.....

and painted a small square using chalkboard paint.

Next, I filled it with all things 'Noteworthy'.

(List pad, sticky notes and stationary.)

And the finishing touch was our 'daily gift note'...

("This week you'll get a daily gift for all you do,

Teaching my Kindergartner each day through.

Making a huge difference without taking a rest,

As Reese's teacher, you are simply the best!")

(I found this sweet poem from Skip to my Lou and changed it slightly to personalize it!)




FRIDAY:
Blooms

I purchased a hanging, flowering basket and added a 'fake' flower note.

(You can personalize and print yours here.)

And, as every other day, I added the 'daily gift note'.

Teacher Appreciation Week 2012! Part One

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week (and we sure do appreciate Reese's teacher)!

We wanted to show her how much we love her with a gift for each day.

MONDAY:
'Rise and Shine' Breakfast Bucket

 The sweet bucket (a Target dollar section find) held a bright napkin, spoon, yogurt, tea bags and sweeteners, and a homemade Chocolate Chip- Banana Muffin. (You can find the ONLY recipe I use for Chocolate Chip-Banana Muffins here.)

I also included a little poem ...

TUESDAY:

Smarties and Sharpies

"Thank you for helping Reese become a 'Smartie' and a 'Sharpie' this year!"

I purchased a bag of Smarties and attached 2 Sharpie pens with ribbon.

WEDNESDAY:
 Apples and Hugs

"A teacher can't live by apples alone! She needs hugs too!"

 I bought a bag of Hershey's Hugs and put them in a decorative glass jar.
Chocolate whenever she needs it! :)

Oh the projects....

It's been a little crazy around here these past few days.

We had a busy weekend. Including a sick Daddy. (boo) Everyone hates when he's out of commission! We sure missed our normal time together with him!

We decided to keep with our Saturday plans and head to a children's museum, leaving Daddy at home to get some much needed rest....

The busy weekend has turned into a busy week!
(I have WAY too many projects going on right now!)

I hope you are getting your 'list of things' done.

I have found that if you actually make a list, you get much more done.

There's something so rewarding about crossing off what you've been able to accomplished!

Out of the Ordinary...

Sometimes, it's nice to have those things that are "out of the norm".

I had an eaarrrrrrrrrrly doctor's appointment this week. I'm talking 7:30am. Who makes appointments that early?!?!?!
Anyway, I wasn't going to let it start my day off bad so I decided that, after my appointment and before dropping my Kindergartner off to school, we'd have a fun breakfast!

Enter a local make-your-own-donut shop. We had the place to ourselves.....

My kids ordered nothing out of the ordinary.... but it's not everyday that they get to eat sugar to start the day!

"Look Mom!"
I'm not sure if he wanted me to see his donut or to see if I'd actually let him eat it.

 "Yes, Buddy. I see it!"

We had a B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L (non-rainy) day to play outside this week! That is out of the ordinary around here considering I had the heat on a week ago! We added Popsicles to make it even better!

We ended the week with an 'out of the ordinary' school trip to the zoo! We just love that place.

Sea Otters

Apparently we have very creative Lemurs!

 Such a sweet Brother-Sister bond! Definitely something that is NOT out of the ordinary!

One of the other moms complimented Reese on how great of a BIG sister she is. I agreed! She is always loving on her brother. And he just adores her in return!

Ssssssss....

There aren't many 'boy' things I make.
OK, none, really.
I've made a zillion bows, bracelets, rings, etc. But not much for the Little Buddy.

Time to change that. Thank you Pinterest for the reminder to include everyone in my crafting endeavours!

Old Tie Turned Snake...
He's ssssssssso cute!

Here's How:

Start with a tie from your Hubby's closet. (One that he won't miss.)

Or, fish one out of your garage sale pile.

Grab a scrap of red ribbon- any size will do. And don't forget the eyes.

I started by sewing the tongue under the 'flap' of the under-side of the tie. Glue would work too. I just know this snake will go through a lot in the coming months, so I thought sewing would handle the roughness.

Eyes came next. I sewed these on too... again, roughness. Glue could work too.

 Then I started stuffing. Grab a small bag of that white fluffy stuff from your local fabric store and stuff the tie. I used a long wooden BBQ skewer to help push the stuffing through the body of the snake. I did hot glue the tie shut but before I did, I needed my snake to 'rattle'.
Enter an old glue stick tube and some teeny-tiny beads.
Shake, Rattle and Roll!

 
I stuffed the 'rattle' in the tail of the snake, hot glued and done!
Sssssssssssssso eassssssssssssssy!

A Favorite Lunch Spot...

Well, where else would that be but

The AMERICAN GIRL Cafe!!!!!!

The kids and I had some special time with Nana and Aunt 'Fai' at American Girl last week.

I treated Reese's doll to pierced ears and Nana treated us to a yummy lunch!

 She had so much fun walking around the store and looking at all of the new outfits for the dolls! American Girl also holds free workshops in the store so Reese was able to make a stitched card and a bracelet while we were there.

Little Buddy's favorite store is right next to American Girl. We spent some quality time at the LEGO store.
He loved having a ton of LEGO's to himself! And I got some good ideas for his birthday gifts!!

(He left with a zoo truck with a lion in the back!)
